Pearl Academy we continually strive to encourage the spark that lights up the

creativity in our children.
worked hard to develop an innovative, thematic curriculum that we are
passionate about and which our children can thrive upon. We persevere to make
our children real learners who develop a thirst for learning. Our
inspirational, engaging curriculum addresses the needs of the 21st
century learner, by recognising that the world is rapidly changing, we ensure our children are equipped with skills for life.
We recognise the importance of purposeful integration of ICT into our thematic curriculum, this extends learning and empowers learners to use their newly developed skills creatively in real life contexts.
At The Pearl Academy we always launch our new units of study by producing a teasing trailer for the children, this teaser provokes thinking amongst the children. All our units of study are inquiry based. Our curriculum jigsaws provide up to date communication with our parents who thoroughly support their child’s learning journey. All this learning is further consolidated by the termly homelinks projects.
Our units of study usually end with a theme day or educational visit off site, this allows the children to experience first hand what they have been learning about. Our curriculum meets the statutory obligations of both the Ministry of Education and the National Curriculum, whilst focusing on the interests of our children. We also include current global issues in our curriculum where possible.
The Senior Leadership Team are dedicated in creating an exciting, stimulating and happy environment which provides the best platform for developing life long learners. The curriculum provision is continually reviewed based on our assessment data and the needs of our children. We value the feedback given by our parents, who are seen as equal partners in this process. Whole

We have just had a very
memorable visit from the hilarious childrens poet Chris White. Many children
ended the day by purchasing a signed copy of his books. Copies of Chris White’s
books are also available to borrow from our fabulous school library. Just ask
one of our magnificent librarians to show you where they are located.
It was very exciting to have
scientist and explorer Henry Evans visit our school in November. Henry has
recently completed a 2 man expedition to the South Pole and he is a keen marine
biologist. He spoke to the children about the rain forest, Earth and
Space, Marine Biology and exploring.
We celebrated maths day on
the 6th of October, we spend the whole day completing activates that
were linked to all the strands of the National Curriculum. We had activities
based on each strand of mathematics.
We care about each other and
want to keep each other safe. We spent the week learning about the different
types of bullying, including cyber bullying.
