This term at The Pearl Academy we look forward to the following: Sports Days, Great Aussie Camp Out, Jungle Camp Out, FS1 Little World Trip, International Day, Science and English Week, Year 2 Swimming Gala
As this may be your child’s first experience of the world
outside their home we aim to provide the best possible environment for
them. A team of highly qualified teachers delivers the curriculum in
exciting and imaginative ways. We believe in a holistic approach to
teaching; building strong foundations for each child’s learning journey.
As we endeavour to meet the needs of the children we are
very much led by their interests. We adapt our planning to reflect these
interests while meeting the objectives laid out in the Early Years Foundation
Our curriculum has three prime areas; Physical Development, Communication and Language and Personal, Social and Emotional Development. These areas provide the children with the fundamental skills they need to develop knowledge and understanding in the four ‘Specific Areas of Learning’; Literacy, Mathematics, Art and Design and Understanding the World. We encourage the children to actively participate in their own learning, playing and exploring, creating and thinking critically.
The curriculum is taught through topics. Each topic incorporates all seven areas of learning from the EYFS curriculum, building on previous knowledge. This year our topics include Nursery Rhymes, If you go Down to the Woods Today……., Drip Drop, Splish Splash, Around the World in 30 Days, Lights, Camera, Action! and Times Gone By.
This half term our topic of inquiry is Are all bears the same? We will be focusing on the key texts of Goldilocks and the three bearsGoing on a bear hunt
