This term at The Pearl Academy we look forward to the following: Sports Days, Great Aussie Camp Out, Jungle Camp Out, FS1 Little World Trip, International Day, Science and English Week, Year 2 Swimming Gala
Our aim in Year 3 is to further develop your child’s
independence and success as a learner.
It is an exciting move from Key Stage 1 into Lower Key Stage 2 and this
transition is guided by our excellent team of dedicated professionals who
support and encourage the academic and social development of your child to
become engaged, considerate lifelong learners.
Year 3 is a busy year of learning. Through exciting inquiry based thematic units
the children develop and consolidate skills in English, Mathematics, Science,
ICT and the Creative Arts. These inquiry
units include questions such as “Who were the Vikings?” and “What goes on Down
Under?” Our children enjoy a dynamic combination of British National Curriculum
outcomes and Arabic, Islamic and U.A.E Social Studies that develop an
appreciation for the local context in which we live and work.
Our core values of excellence, respect, collaboration,
creativity and passion underpin everything that we do here at The Pearl
Academy. We value close links between
school and home and understand the privilege we have as educators to shape the
future of the next generation. We look
forward to welcoming you to The Pearl Academy.
Viking day was a great success. Children came dressed up as
scary, vicious Vikings and had great fun pretending to be the raiders from
Scandinavia. They reconstructed battles with Mrs Affleck, tasted some foods the
Vikings would have eaten with Mrs Turner, decorated and painted Viking clay
pots with Mrs O’Shaughnessy, and rehearsed a song and dance performance which
was later show cased at the end of the day to parents. The song was “Islands in
the stream” with some special Viking lyrics! The dance was expertly
choreographed by Ms Madden which was dramatic, as 100 children on the stage
stomped to the music.
Thank you again to all the staff and parents for making the
day so much fun for our Year 3 students.
We are very
excited to be working in the host country for the World Skills competition
which will take place next year, because of this fabulous event, year 3 decided
to create a unit of inquiry based on what goes on down under?
